Japan’s recovered paper utilization rate stands at approximately 65%, one of the highest levels in the world.
This high recycling rate is supported by a three‑part, closely coordinated recycling system: waste separation by households and corporate customers, recovered paper collection by the recycling industry, and paper manufacturing by the pulp and paper industry. As the SDGs have become a globally shared priority, material recycling of recovered paper has continued to diversify, and new customer‑led initiatives have begun to emerge.
Some customers have started to take the lead in collecting paper products used for their own goods, such as containerboards, and promoting responsible recycling throughout the entire process. We believe that such initiatives are likely to expand further in the future. Against this backdrop, KPP supports the realization and visualization of a circular recycling loop by centrally managing both the “arterial” flow of paper supply and the “venous” flow of recovered paper collection. By returning generated recovered paper to paper production and enabling our customers to reuse it, we help close the resource loop. Through these efforts, we contribute to our customers’ environmental initiatives and to the realization of the realization of a recycling-oriented society.
