Tadashi Kurihara, Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture; President and Representative Director :Koji Ishii), along with Thespakusatsu Gunma, a soccer club operated by Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., collects used paper cups for recycling.
For four games to be held at Shoda Shoyu Stadium Gunma, the club's home stadium, on August 20 and 28 and September 14 and 24, special paper cup collection machines will be installed at four locations to collect used paper cups and use them as raw materials to produce recycled toilet paper for reuse. In the past, used paper cups were disposed of by incineration as general waste. However, through this initiative, we are taking on the challenge of creating a new recycling system and communicating the importance of resource reuse.
Tokan Kogyo Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shinagawa-Ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Toshiya Kasai; hereinafter referred to as "Tokan Kogyo Co., Ltd."), a leading manufacturer of containers, has provided this dedicated recovery machine.
Thespakusatsu Gunma promotes the "3R" (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle). At the same time, taking advantage of the "recognition, attention, and transmission power" of professional sports teams, we are working to solve social issues by promoting environmental conservation activities and SDGs to people who come to our home games and local communities.
The Company agrees with this idea of Thespakusatsu Gunma and has decided to carry out this initiative together with the Club. We aim to establish the recycling of used paper containers by providing opportunities for people who come to watch the games to recognize the used paper cups as a new resource. We will continue to make every effort to realize a recycling-oriented society through a system that makes maximum use of resources.
