Plastic waste and marine pollution have become global challenges, prompting governments and businesses worldwide to take action. In Japan, the government launched the Marine Initiative to realize the “Osaka Blue Ocean Vision” introduced at the G20 Osaka Summit. It also partnered with private companies to establish organizations such as the Japan Clean Ocean Material Alliance and the Plastic Smart Forum.
Meanwhile, retailers and food service companies are increasingly turning to paper straws and paper bags, accelerating efforts to reduce environmental impact across both public and private sectors. In response to these trends, we launched the KPP Green Biz Project, a company-wide initiative led by young employees. With a focus on “switching to paper,” “reducing plastic,” and “promoting bioplastics,” the team is advancing the development and distribution of sustainable materials and products to help combat marine plastic pollution.
